Toro Rosso team history

Red Bull bought up the Minardi team at the end of 2005 to enter the 2006 season with what is in effect the junior Red Bull team. Their first race win came at Monza in 2008 when Sebastian Vettel won a rain affected race from pole position. For 2014 Daniel Ricciardo was moved up to Red Bull to replace Mark Webber and was replaced by Daniil Kvyat in his first season in F1. The team had a solid mid-table season and Danil Kvyat impressed sufficiently to get a drive with Red Bull for 2015. Toro Rosso went with youth for 2015 with 17 year old Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz Jr. For the 2020 season Toro Rosso became Alpha Tauri.
